L'AiR Arts Community

L’AiR Arts Community Program provides an opportunity for artists, cultural professionals, arts organizations, academic institutions, arts service agencies, patrons and companies to come together to continue the artistic and intellectual tradition ensconced in the history of Montparnasse.

The objectives of the L’AiR Arts Community

Get involved in the creation of a new International Arts Research Residency in the historic Parisian Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, through two fundamental missions: to safeguard international artistic heritage while promoting intercultural dialogue through contemporary arts.
Restore and Protect Cultural Heritage
Restore and protect a remarkable architectural and artistic heritage of Atelier 11 at Cité Falguière
Develop and Transmit Research
Develop and transmit research about the history of Cité Falguière and the École de Paris
Support Intercultural Exchange
Support intercultural exchange and creative mobility through curated arts residency programs

Join

We invite all art lovers, artists, and supporters to participate in this unique cultural heritage x contemporary art initiative, connecting past and present, local and global. The idea of L’AiR Arts Community Program is to revive the creative energy of the École de Paris, its spirit of solidarity and unity, that allowed the international arts community to thrive in the heart of France.

To borrow French scholar Michel Espagne’s concept of “cultural transfers,” artists are often catalysts for global mobility – “vectors” in the cross-cultural exchanges that fuel the evolution of culture, politics, and society. Just like during the inter-war period of the École de Paris and the 1918 epidemic, our world is greatly impacted by divisive politics and the COVID-19 pandemic. It is our hope that once the pandemic comes under control, arts residencies will play a critical role in the re-emergence of cultural mobility and international exchange, ultimately supporting global economy and solidarity.

There are opportunities for everyone to join the L’AiR Arts Community and get involved in a meaningful and rewarding way. Join today and learn more about our community, programs and the residency.

I’m so happy to know L’AiR Arts have emerged from the pandemic stronger and more committed and engaged than ever. This new development, the use and restoration of Atelier 11, is brilliant, harmonious with your mission, and historically important, looking both forward and back. Bravo to all involved.
