Roundtable discussion: reflecting history through contemporary conversations
Date: Friday 18 October
Time: 16h - 17h30 (Exhibition open: 15h - 20h)
Address: Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, 75015 Paris
Drawing on the history of international artists gathering and sharing during the École de Paris period, this event will centre and celebrate the creative energy and spirit of solidarity which supported and generated a thriving community of international artists in the heart of Europe.
Presented as a culminating event for the L’AiR Arts Curated Professional Program, this event brings together artists from around the world, also welcoming those in exile. The event exemplifies continuity with the culture of l'École de Paris: welcoming international creators in search of new artistic encounters and perspectives. Through an open conversation, the event will explore the importance of art in bridging gaps between different groups, creating access for those without it, and fostering a space for care and support. Through arts residencies and exhibitions which activate history through contemporary questions, L’AiR Arts Association invites a discussion around the critical role arts workers play in facilitating exchange and solidarity.
This event will be presented alongside the closing of Le Soleil des Morts (The Sun of the Dead) exhibition, curated by L’AiR Arts Paris-based residents Margaux Knight and Eladio Aguilera. With an immersive approach, the exhibition celebrates Cité Falguière's significance as a hub for the École de Paris. Visitors are transported into a reflection on cultural identity and the unbreakable bond between artistic heritage and contemporary creation.
