AVANT-FEMME / AVANT-GARDE

Atelier 11 Open Studio

4 pm - 8 pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2025
Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, 75015 Paris

In March 2025, L’AiR Arts hosts a special residency program, titled Avant-Femme / Avant-Garde, celebrating the contributions of women artists to the rich artistic history of Montparnasse. For the culminating event at Atelier 11, artists and cultural professionals from around the world will host their own open studio, for an evening of sharing and celebrating the creative energy of cross-cultural exchange.

Join us for the opportunity to explore the historic Cité Falguière, which is not usually open to the public, and engage directly with those who benefit from the space it provides in our contemporary time. This open studio event is the opportunity to engage with an international cohort, foregrounding the historic and contemporary artistic practices of women artists. Featuring installation, alternative media, creative writing and performance, the event will highlight the work of participants, selected from an open call of over 600 applications.

Organized as part of the 150th Anniversary of Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, the program also honors its last historical resident, artist Mira Maodus, who lived and worked at Atelier 11 for nearly fifty years. The open studio will also feature work of the L'AiR Arts past residents SofijaSilvia (Croatia/France) and Barbara Wildenboer (South Africa).

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our artists, supporters, local program co-hosts, and institutional partners for upholding the welcoming spirit of the École de Paris and advancing international solidarity through cross-cultural dialogue and exchange.
