Life-drawing with Chloe Briggs & ioi Choi
In honor of Constantin Brancusi’s 150th anniversary, L’AiR Arts invites you to a drawing workshop and exhibition inspired by his iconic practice. Brancusi began his journey at Cité Falguière in the early 20th century, and today that legacy continues at its last surviving studio, Atelier 11, founded at the time of his birth.

Join L'AiR Arts residents, artist/educator Chloe Briggs and artist/model ioi Choi, to celebrate the works created during the drawing workshop in the historic Atelier 11. Taking the tradition of life drawing as a starting point, the workshop departs from the idea that drawing is inseparable from sculpture: a way to explore form, volume, and movement even before touching the material. It is this same curiosity about the body, line, and space that this workshop invites you to rediscover.
Music and dance were at the heart of Brancusi's life. Several dancers who had come to Paris regularly visited him at his studio, among them Lizica Codréano, whom he photographed in 1922 dancing to Erik Satie's Gymnopédies, and Florence Meyer, whose friendship with the sculptor lasted twenty-five years. These interplays between movement, sound, and sculpted form constitute one of the most vibrant and characteristic aspects of his career.
Responding to the sculptures and drawings of Brancusi and to the influence of music on his practice, participants are encouraged to expand the possibilities for their work, to run with the spirit of the place and find new, exciting rhythms and forms.
At the end of the weekend, the doors of Atelier 11 will open to the public to celebrate the works created—a moment of sharing and connection in the spirit of this long tradition of creative exchange.
