Solana Tixi, Argentina

Solana Tixi is an argentine visual artist and writer. She merges writing with sculpture, drawing, and painting to explore concepts related to territory and identity, the psyche, and the intricate human connections.

In her works, there is always a tension between the pursuit of beauty and the intrusion of deformity, between control and the resistance to losing it.

She graduated from the Bachelor's degree in Culture and Social Communication at the Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed a Master's in Art Direction and Communication at Elisava, School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona, Spain.

Solana exhibits her work individually and collectively. Solo
Exhibitions include (selection): Departing From Me, La Galerilla, pueblo Garzón Uruguay (2025); Watch Me Doing, Quimera, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2024); Still Here, Log, Hiroshima, Japan (2024). Group Exhibitions include (selection): Mushin, Miranda Bosch, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2024); A Room of One’s Own, Gross Abad, Madrid, Spain (2023).

Meet Solana at her Open Studio at Atelier 11, as part of the National Architecture Days with the theme Architectures du quotidien / Architecture of the Everyday, on October 17 & 18, 2025.
My work is connected to the place I inhabit at the moment of its creation. Through ceramics, painting, and drawing, I explore the materialities and the relationships I establish with them in a specific site. I use the frottage technique—through which I transfer the texture and shape of a surface onto fabric by rubbing graphite and dyes over it—as a means of transmutation. It is both a mental and material record, etched into the fabric, and can be read as the emotional map of a place.
