L’Atelier MBC - Montparnasse History
Located not far from the FIAP Centre, in the heart of Montparnasse at Vavin crossroad, L’Atelier MBC* belongs to a small historic community of ten artist workshops, known as Salle Huyghens. Active since the early 1900s, it hosted many prominent artists, musicians, poets, performers and intellectuals of Ecole de Paris.
Throughout the 20th century, Salle Huyghens organized readings of modern poets: Apolinaire, Jean Cocteau and Blaise Cendrars; exhibitions by Picasso, Braque, Modigliani, Kisling, Matisse; musical concerts with Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Tailleferre (Les Six ).
In the 1930s it became an Atelier of Guy Lévis Mano, a poet and a friend of Char, Eluard, Breton, Jouve, Gisele Prassinos, Frenaud, Lorca, Jimenez, Prevert... and also of artists: Giacometti, Masson, Miro, Max Ernst, Man Ray, Courtaud, Michel Sima and Valentine Hugo.

Close to the renown artistic places of the early 20th century such as the Grande Chaumiere Academy and the iconic Montparnasse cafes: the Rotunda, the Dome, and La Coupole, the Atelier MBC can be used as a work/live or an event space. It includes:
* MBC - named after a woman painter, Madeleine Beau Charrier, who worked in this studio until 2017. The atelier now belongs to her children, also artists.
- 33m2 work space on the ground and 17m2 live space on the mezzanine
- supply of work equipment: easels, boards, lighting, etc.

- bed and beddings
- bathroom + towels
- kitchenette (microwave / oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, dishes ...)
