Clare Patrick, South Africa / United Kingdom
Clare Patrick was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. She completed her BAFA (Hons) with distinction at the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2017, before completing an MA in Art History (Photography: History, Theory, Practice) at the University of Sussex, also graduating with distinction in 2019.
In October 2018, Clare joined the Brighton Photo Fringe Emerging Curators programme. In late 2019 she participated at the L’AiR Arts Research Residency in Paris and then spent a month at the Greywood Arts residency in East Cork. Through her curatorial work, Clare has put together and participated in several exhibitions at art fairs in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Brighton, Paris, and Marrakech as well as curating numerous group and solo exhibitions in Cape Town. Her art practice is based in installation and moving image, while her research to date has engaged with decolonial strategies and knowledge production, through performance, textiles and photographic histories. |
