Dulce Chacón, Mexico
B.A. in Visual Arts at Faculty of Arts and Design, UNAM, Mexico city (1994-1998). Member of Athletic Art collective (1998-2003). In 2001 she attended an academic residency at Academie Minerva Faculteit der Kunsten, Groningen, Netherlands. Member of the SOMA Educational Program, Mexico city (2010-2012) where she subsequently performs the Academic Coordination (2015 to 2017).
Dulce Chacón has exhibited her work in various national and international venues. Among her most relevant exhibitions are Bienal Tlatelolca, Mexico City (2019), Manila Biennale, Open City, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines (2018) and MATRIX 175, Fallen Angels at Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A. (2016). In 2017 publishes with s-ediciones two editorial projects: "Zenith" and "Cuaderno de bocetos". She has made artistic residencies at Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Shropshire, United Kingdom (2010) and at Temenggong Artist in Residence, Singapore (2013). Fellow in Mexico of the Lorena Alejandra Gallardo A.C. (1998) and Bancomer MACG Arte Actual Program 3rd edition (2012-2014). Member of the National System of Art Creators, Mexico (2018-2020). Her work focus as an investigation into visual narratives that develop reinterpretations of events that have happened in the past, whose photographic record is used as a trigger for drawing. The results are graphic reconstructions that address the event by reflecting on the representation of reality, multiple versions of the real and the imaginary. Dulce lives and works in Mexico City. |
