Dumplings without borders
When we say Dumplings it can mean many things: from jiaozi to varenyky, from gyoza to pelmeni....It can be savoury or sweet, stuffed or not...depending on where we are. Dumplings exist in different forms and different varieties in different corners of the world and we all have experiences in tasting them.
Dumpling is also a concept beyond borders that unites us. In times of conflict, we would like to invite everyone to gather and taste different dumplings prepared by 3 artists from different countries: Ukraine, Hong Kong and Russia. Three different cultural backgrounds reunite in the kitchen with the same flour. And from the same dough, three different dumplings. Welcome to 'Dumplings without borders'.
This event is presented as part of Atelier 11 for Solidarity initiative in response to the humanitarian crisis. Inspired by La Cantine des Artistes operated at the neighbouring Atelier Marie Vassilieff during the WWI, our Solidarity Canteen offers an opportunity to revisit the past while supporting intercultural dialogue and exchange towards an open and free world of today.
Saturday April 30, 2022
Two entry options: 13h or 16h
You can join us for either lunch or an apero. Each session will also offer an opportunity to visit a historical Atelier that hosted many prominent artists of the 20th century, and meet artistic community of today, including current artist-in-residence from Ukraine, Maryna Semenkova, and the welcoming Paris-based peers.
The event will also feature live music and charity draw. All proceeds will go towards the solidarity initiatives, including programs for children and residencies for arts workers from the conflict-affected areas.
