Marianne Walker lives and works in London and has exhibited nationally and internationally.
Recent residencies include: Hogchester Arts 2022, Radical Residency V at Unit 1 Gallery Workshop 2020, The CoLaB Body and Place Historic Residency 2019 and L'AiR Arts Drawing Research Residency in Paris 2019, supported by a European Cultural Foundation travel grant.
Notable exhibitions and awards include: Observer Magazine New British Artist award 2002, Romantic Detachment PS1 MoMA New York in 2004, Orion's Shorts Film Festival, a High Desert Test Sites exhibition in the Californian desert in 2006, Alchemical Reactions at Cafe Oto, London in 2011, Contemporary British Drawing at Xi'an Academy of Fine Art, China in 2015, Artworks Open 2018 at Barbican Arts Group Trust selected by Tai Shani and Emma Talbot, Invitational 1 at Unit 1 Gallery Workshop, London, selected by Alessio Antoniolli 2020/21, Wells Art Contemporary Installations at Wells Cathedral 2021, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Reclaiming Magic, 2021.
Also in 2021 Walker was awarded the East Yorkshire Contemporary Arts Uplift Commission funded by Arts Council England which resulted in the site specific solo presentation, Kin, in 2022. In 2023 she was awarded an Arts Council England funded commission by the Arts Institute Plymouth to produce new works for the exhibition Otherworlds and was awarded an AN Artist Bursary to further her artistic research into the drawings of Odilon Redon.
