Rama Duwaji, Dubai, UAE
Rama Duwaji is a Syrian illustrator and designer based in Dubai, UAE. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, with a BFA in Communication Design. Creating imagery of women of color in healing spaces, she tells her stories through black and white portraiture and symbolism, and her work can take on different mediums such as editorial illustrations, original screen prints, children illustrations and graphic novel.
She has recently completed two solo shows, one in Virginia, USA at The Anderson Gallery with a show titled “More than”; a collection of all her recent works displayed, and another solo show in Beirut, Lebanon titled “Face to Face” which displayed the result of her 2 month artist residency at Haven for Artists. She has also taught and coordinated workshops at Tasmeem Design Biennial in Qatar and has worked on illustrating and designing publications with prestigious institutions like Tate Collective, Institute De Monde Árabe and Cartier. |
