Atelier 11 Studio Residency for Paris-based Professionals
Paris-based artists and cultural professionals are invited to submit their proposals for the Atelier 11 studio residency. As an ongoing program that runs parallel to live-in residencies and curated group programs for visiting professionals, this residency gives local professionals the opportunity to carry out artistic projects, develop their research and present their work, while also participating in a new international network. In line with the L’AiR Arts mission, this residency is intended to foster cross-cultural exchanges and collaborations between the local art ecosystem (artists, curators, writers, scholars, institutions, galleries, etc.) and international artists and cultural professionals.

Residency Resources
Paris-based residents may benefit from the following resources:
Please note, as a small heritage site Atelier 11 is not a production facility and does not provide specialized equipment. While this residency program supports contemporary creation, its focus is primarily on intercultural exchange, research, and professional development. |

Residency Framework
In revisiting Atelier 11’s origins, particularly the welcoming spirit of the École de Paris period when French and locally based artists opened their doors to international peers, the proposed projects should align with the organization’s inclusive mission and residency framework, Applicants are encouraged to connect their projects with the residency’s broader activities and events, in a way that will fuel intercultural exchange, productive dialogue and research, while reflecting on the cultural and socio-political context of cosmopolitan Paris in the 20th century and today.
Paris-based residents are also invited to act as co-hosts of the program, helping foster meaningful professional development opportunities for all participants. Possible forms of involvement include:
The residency period for local professionals is flexible, and usually ranges from 2 weeks to 2 months. The duration and exact dates can be coordinated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the project and availability.
Funding and Support
Access to the Atelier 11 space for Paris-based professionals is supported by L’AiR Arts. Depending on available funding, residents may also receive a research/material stipend and, if needed, on-site accommodation for visiting collaborators (furnished en-suite room, subject to availability).
As a historically artist-run space, sustained by the artists who worked within it, we encourage all residents to participate in joint applications for external funding to support proposed projects and use of the space. The contributions help offset the costs of preserving and maintaining Atelier 11 and sustaining the residency program.
Application
Please complete the general application form or email us directly at [email protected], indicating which residency program you are interested in and attaching a single PDF file containing a cover letter explaining the motivations for the residency, your CV, a short bio, artist statement and documentation presenting previous work.
