Rodrigo Bueno, Brazil
Born in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil in 1967, Rodrigo Bueno is a visual artist and coordinator of the atelier Mata Adentro, a home and working space, located in Lapa district in São Paulo.
Mata Adentro is a name chosen to expand the authorship of a single artist into actions of collective processes. The words Mata Adentro stand as a call to the inner woods, an invitation to the essential nature seen as symbolic matter and as the subconscious as well. Mata Adentro is a lab of languages risen out of nature’s memory activations. The studio creates art as objects, installations, and experiences to sensitize the human to the dynamics of life. Art as keys of multidimensional senses that blossom in the diversity of identities, contained in the legacy of the natural world, source of culture and resilience. The studio has broken part of its concrete floors so time and soil are comfortable with each other, a place where reclaimed materials, mainly wood, iron, water, and plants collected from urban waste, are transformed into installations, sculptures, paintings, and environments set to nurture technologies of the encounter and other tools that speak of the continuity of life, the axis that sustains wholeness and culture as a constant movement. The studio has been showing its work in Brazil and abroad for over twenty years, it is a production of mostly three-dimensional, vivid, and immersive works that relate to the oneness of nature and humans, interweaving ancestral narratives and fluid energies. |
Rodrigo Bueno's residency at Atelier 11 will take place from May 19 until June 5 in conjunction with his solo exhibition "Desormais" opening on June 2nd at Espace Frans Krajcberg in Paris.
