Tsolak MLKE-Galstyan, Armenia
Tsolak MLKE-Galstyan was born on the 25th of February in 1984 in Yerevan, Armenia; choreographer, director, painter, dancer, playwright, art manager.
Since 1990 Tsolak started practicing traditional Armenian dances, since 1995 Latino-American dance and in 1992 started attending classical dance courses. Since 1998 Tsolak started his retraining and committed to contemporary dance. In 2007 Tsolak graduated from the Graphics Department of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts: he has studied Graphic Design (2007). Attended Dance Philosophy Courses led by Modris Tenisons in Riga, Latvia and studied Contemporary Dance at the ''Duncan'' Center in Prague, the Czech Republic (2006). Attended The Theatre Management Program (U.S. Community Connections Program) in Boston, Cambridge, New York, the USA (2008). Studied the “Open Circle” method at the “Open Circle” Theatre in Lithuania in 2009. |
Tsolak is the Founder and Artistic Director of MIHR Theatre since 2003. He is the Open-air and special events Manager and Curator of Polish Dance Platform at HIGH FEST International Performing Arts Festival in Armenia since 2003. Tsolak started to work as a Lecturer of the master course ’’Improvisation’’ at the chair of Choreographic Pedagogy of the Armenian State Pedagogical University since 2018.
Tsolak has created more than 20 contemporary dance, site-specific, emotional dance, inclusive dance, action-painting, open-air, physical and drama dance performances and innovative projects. His performances: “Lavash” “Colors’’ ‘’Komitas 10 Commandments’’, “Dreams in dreams’’ “Black Castle”, and ‘’Soldiers’’ are presented in the festivals from Iran to European Countries and USA. He is the author of an innovative project called ‘’Music of Movement’’, based on the idea of using alternative musical instruments, created by MIHR theatre, for making sounds from the dancers' movements: music is created through movements and it reveals the sound of dance.The great importance is given to the movement, which leads to music, not the music, which leads to the movement.He also leads his studio where he teaches contemporary dance, dance theatre and movement for the theatre.
