Presented as part of L'AiR Arts Art Research Program and connected to the rich history of the École de Paris, the purpose of this event is not only to highlight the important role that international artists have played in Paris during the 20th century, but also to support intercultural dialogue today. The event will present the opportunity to revisit and develop the creative energy of the École de Paris and to reflect on our approach to history and heritage. In preparing for this open studio, the artists were asked to respond to the following question:
How do you engage with history and historical thinking/research through artistic practice?
To continue the École de Paris tradition of cross-cultural exchange, we look forward to exploring this question together as we observe a studio visit with the Atelier 11 Paris-based artist resident, SofijaSilvia (Silvia Potočki), who is working on her upcoming solo show, alongside the presentation of works by visiting international artists who are participants of the current Art Research Residency.
We invite you to join the artists and contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the arts, history and heritage. Artists communities have always played a critical role in facilitating international cooperation and exchange. Today, more than ever, the arts and cultural sector, especially the field of arts residencies, can play a critical role in creating a more inclusive and open society, ultimately supporting global solidarity.
