The invisible realm of possibility / L'au-delà des possibles

Presented as part of the Drawing Research Residency in partnership between L’AiR ARTS at FIAP Paris and DRAWinternational, Caylus, France. Monday April 1 19:30 - Exhibition Opening Wednesday April 10 14:00 - 18:30 - Open Studios 16:00 - 18:00 - Drawing Workshop 19:30 - Exhibition Closing The Drawing Research Residency program is two-fold: a full month of creative practice with DRAWinternational in a medieval town of Caylus. Followed by two weeks in Paris with L'AiR Arts for contextual research and exploration, while exhibiting the work. Works produced at DRAWinternational are curated by John and Grete McNorton. Dr. John McNorton, a former visiting professor at the Royal College of Art in London and Head of Centre for Art and Design Education at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, will give an opening presentation to the exhibition. |
Artists often reveal that which is not initially visible. They employ an attitude which transcends linear logical thinking. Instead, they introduce the possibility of using sensate experience in order to contemplate other readings and interpretations of an object, a situation or a thought.

The artist, in the true meaning of the term, takes the viewer into a realm of an experiential space which may challenge and even alter a state of mind.

The exhibition will also feature selected works that are seen as a relationship to the residency theme and the exhibition title "The Invisible Realm of Possibility" by the following artists-in-residence who will join the group from Caylus in Paris:
DRAWinternational has also selected several works from their former artists in residence to compliment this exhibition: Badra Aji, Evan Broens, Armando Chant, Laura Edmunds, Robbie Karmel and Olivia Concetta Lennon.
Current artists-in-residence will be present at the opening and closing events as well as at the open studio and by appointment during the residency period from March 29 until April 12.
Drawing Workshop: Drawing My Body / My Body Drawing
During the open studio event on April 10, participants will also be able to immerse in a sensory exploration of drawing through the workshop presented by Paris College of Art. Titled "Drawing My Body / My Body Drawing" and led by Paris-based artists Chloe Briggs and Véronique Devoldère, the aim of the workshop is to raise questions about an embodied experience of drawing.
